Faith that Moves Beyond Silver and Gold

Acts 3:11-16
11 While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade. 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. 16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.

James 2:14-17
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Devotional: The lame man asked for money, but Peter recognized a deeper need. Sometimes what people request isn't what they truly need. Our world chases material solutions while ignoring spiritual poverty. The church's greatest gift isn't programs, buildings, or budgets—it's Jesus. This doesn't diminish practical help; meeting physical needs matters. But if we feed bodies while starving souls, we've missed our calling. The lame man received both healing and hope because someone looked past the surface. Ask God for eyes to see beyond immediate requests to eternal needs. Your testimony of what Jesus has done carries more power than any theological argument. Give them Jesus—not just charity, but the life-changing Savior.
