Protected Through the Detour

Exodus 13:17-18 (NLT)
17 When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land.  God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”
18 So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle.

God's route is rarely the shortest, but it's always the safest. When He led Israel away from the direct path, it wasn't confusion—it was compassion. He knew they weren't ready for the battles ahead. Today, your delay might feel frustrating, but God sees what you cannot. He's protecting you from pressures that could crush your faith and temptations that could derail your destiny. The wilderness isn't punishment; it's preparation. When doors close and plans change, trust that God is shielding you from what would harm you. His detours are divine protection. Your delayed blessing is often a disguised mercy. Surrender your timeline to His wisdom, knowing that the God who sees the end from the beginning is carefully guiding your steps.
